Memphis, Tennessee confirmed 6 cases of measles, after which the health officials in Arkansas urged the local citizens to stay up to date on their vaccinations. The measles in Memphis were confirmed by the Shelby County Health Department, right across the river Mississippi from West Memphis, Arkansas. This disease is extremely contagious viral infection. It starts with runny nose, high fever, red eyes, and cough, followed by a rash which begins on the head and then spreading throughout the body.
Measles can be fatal in some cases, but it can be prevented with the measles, rubella, and mumps vaccine. Those born before the year of 1957, are believed to be immune of this disease, and the U.S. vaccination schedule states that people who got 2 doses of measles vaccine as kids, are protected from measles for their entire life.
