Tooth loss is a process that is usually very painful although the deformity it causes is not so big.

Even though, people today can use dental implants, the process of healing can last for days or even months, and implants that don’t manage to align well with the jawbone (because the jawbone is constantly growing and changing) will probably fall out shortly.

It would be perfect if adults could have the chance to experience the regeneration of their teeth.

Well, a recent study published in the reputable Journal of Dental Research magazine, has shown that a new technique focused on tissue regeneration may help people re-grow a completely new set of normal white teeth.

Dr. Jeremy Mao, Professor of Dental Research at Columbia University Medical Center, has revealed a 3D scaffold with a true potential to regenerate normal white teeth in about nine weeks after implantation.

This technique is based on a procedure that was developed in the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine Laboratory at the university. With this technique, Dr. Mao can point the stem cells from the body to the scaffold which is based on completely natural materials. The stem cells will slowly begin to colonize the scaffold and the tooth will start to grow in the socket. After some time the tooth will merge with the tissue around it.

This new technique developed by Dr. Mao will make the technique of growing teeth in a Petri dish obsolete and this is a technique that uses the resources of our body to grow completely new teeth. This procedure will speed up the healing process and it will bring your natural teeth back.

This discovery was already patented by Columbia University Medical Center and now they are looking for financial support to start the commercialization of this product.
