Benefits of Dark Chocolate
As it was shown in the recent studies done at the John Hopkins University School of Medicine and Bloomberg School of Public health, some compounds in the cocoa beans have effect similar to aspirin in the fight with clumping in platelets which can cause blocking of a blood vessel and thereby a heart attack. However, Dr. Diane Becker, a professor at these schools clearly states that this data isn’t meant to be used as a prescription for eating of large amounts of chocolate.
Chocolate also contains ingredients as sugar, butter and cream which shouldn’t be consumed in large amounts. Dark chocolate is an extract made out of roasted cocoa beans and as it is the purest form of chocolate it can be beneficial to eat as much as two spoons daily.
Dark chocolate or a hot cocoa can be healthy and good for consuming, but only if you consume them properly in a regular diet or nutrition plan.
According to researches done dark chocolate act most beneficially to the heart and blood functions, especially in people with mildly elevated risk of a heart attack or disease. However, as stated by many researchers; consuming of dark chocolate won’t be as much useful if done as a single dietary practice as it will if combined with other healthy practices such as running, cycling, exercising etc.
Benefits of Cranberry Juice
Another food product that can boost your health is cranberries. Amy Howell, a researcher at Rutgers University says that cranberries are in the highest rankings of food products with health benefits. The essential, antioxidant compounds found in cranberries are helpful in protecting cells from free radicals in the body.
Recent researches have shown that drinking cranberry juice is good in treating of urinary infections. Another element found in the cranberries called proanthocyanidin has a beneficial effect for the teeth in preventing of periodontal disease so mouthwashes with this element are being developed.
Other beneficial effects from the consuming of cranberries and cranberry juice can be: killing of the H.pylori bacteria, regulating of cholesterol levels, preventing of starting or growing tumors and many others.
It’s obvious that the conclusion of this story is to eat healthy amounts of dark chocolate and consume cranberry juice on a daily basis. I recommend you don’t mix the two in the same time but consume them in different periods of the day. For example you can drink a glass of cranberry juice as a snack between meals and you can eat a dark chocolate bar with your morning coffee.
As peanut butter fudge is my favorite to consume with morning coffee, I wish one day they would discover that it’s also very good for our health even consumed in large amounts.
