Lewis Daly, a resident of Brooklyn has recently filed a lawsuit against Quaker Oats a well-known producer of cereals and oatmeal. Mr. Daly claims that their products come with a carcinogenic compound known as glyphosate. This compound was branded as potentially dangerous to humans last year. This is a class action against the company in courts in New York and Los Angeles.
According to the lawsuit, there is a significant amount of glyphosate in Quaker Oats product known as Quick 1-Minute. That’s why he is asking complete refund and a public promise that this famous company will stop using glyphosate in their products.
What makes the situation even worse is the fact that Quaker Oats releases ads where their products are marketed as completely natural. This is a case of misleading advertisement.
For those who didn’t know, glyphosate is a well-known herbicide, that is frequently used in the elimination of weeds and it is usually part of special products against weeds like Ortho and Roundup. Mr. Daly doesn’t say that their use of this herbicide is completely wrong, but he doesn’t agree that the company produces completely natural products.
Quaker Oats is owned by PepsiCo Co and they keep claiming that all the products are planted, grown, harvested, and processed in an eco-friendly way. The management of this company also claims that there is a thorough cleaning process that eliminates noticeable amounts of herbicide.
Independent tests have confirmed that the aforementioned product comes with just 4% of the allowed level.
