Simple 3-Ingredients Alkaline Water Recipe For Fatigue, Weight Loss and More!
Although the ideal body’s pH level is alkaline, nowadays people tend to have more or even highly acidic pH level. This is mainly because of the food they consume, various environmental factors, and stress.
If the pH level in the body is highly acidic for too long, the healthy cells might become toxic and in worst cases, they can become cancerous.
How It All Works
The ideal environment for the human’s body is slightly alkaline, with a pH level of 7.4 (7 being neutral, 0 most acidic, and 14 most alkaline).
However, different organs and systems in our body thrive in the different environment. For instance, the typical pH level of skin is 5, and that of saliva is 6.5 to 7 (more acidic to aid food digestion). The International Journal of Cosmetic Science has published a 2006 study which shows that the ideal pH level of skin should be somewhat lower – 4 to 4.5. The reason is because, in this environment, the beneficial bacteria (helping skin heal and fight various infections) can thrive on the skin.
The environment of the digestive tract mainly varies, from 1.5 to 7.0, being constantly influenced by the food we consume.
Why Is Alkaline Environment So Important?
It is a well-known fact that the food we consume can determine our body’s pH level, and with that our overall health. Dr. Otto Warburg’s 1931 discovery that 90-95% of all cancer cases are caused by acidic pH level in our body, and that cancerous cells can’t survive or grow in an alkaline nature, with a pH level of 7.36 got him a Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.
Ever since then, numerous studies have analyzed the pH levels of different foods and drinks and their reaction in our body. They could either contribute to our body’s acidic or alkaline environment.
About 100 years ago, Dr. Otto Warburg pointed out that acidosis (over-acidity) is connected not only to cancer formation, but also to osteoporosis, diabetes, heart disease, and nearly every modern chronic disease.
How to Know if Your Body is Overly Acidic?
Generally, there are 2 simple methods to see if your body is acidic: either by doing a saliva test with the help of pH paper or if you experience the following symptoms:
- Constant fatigue
- Muscle cramps or pain after walking even short distances
- Frequent feeling like you have insufficient air
- Easily running out of breath
When the pH level in our body drops, our organism naturally tries to restore the optimal balance of 7.35-7.45 by storing extra acidic substances in the liver, kidneys, and lungs.
However, at some point, these overly acidic substances will start attacking our normal cells, by making them sick, damaged, and toxic. If this is not quickly addressed, these damaged cells can start growing really fast and spread to other organs in the body – in other words, they can metastasize.
The 21st Century Diet is Too Acidic
The nowadays diet consisted of excess caffeine, sugar, alcohol, and highly processed foods are one of the main reasons for the Chronic over-acidity. Moreover, the pesticides, additives, and growth hormones used in the production and growing of the foods are as well highly acidic to the human’s body.
Besides changing your diet, another way to counter this is to detox your body with alkaline water. Our body is consisted of 70% water, so once you help it becomes alkaline, you will help your body achieve homeostasis.
How to Prepare Alkaline Water
- 2 liters of purified water (chemical and additive-free water is the goal, but an osmosis filter can be as well fine if you have one)
- 1 tablespoon of Himalayan salt
- 1 lemon (use only organic lemon since they are free from pesticides)
- 1 large glass jar (make sure it’s a glass rather than a plastic one, as plastic contains impurities and chemicals which are acidic to human’s body)
Add slices of the lemon in the glass jar filled with the water (without squeezing the juice). Add the salt and cover the jar. Let it stay for 12-24 hours at a room temperature.
After this period, drink three glasses of this water the first thing in the morning. You can as well drink alkaline water occasionally throughout the day. After a while, you will notice the differences such as increased energy, clearer skin, and more alert brain, or in other words, you will start feeling more alive.
A combination of this alkaline water with a healthier diet, and exclusion of sugar, processed foods, and additives, will create a better and healthier version of you.
