Exercising? Dieting? But still not losing weight? You are not the only one. When it comes to losing some extra pounds, certain things do not only affect your figure but your overall health. So, for effective weight loss, you should say goodbye to the following foods and the results would be there.
1. Soda
Regular soda is nothing more than water high in sugar. You might think that it was the perfect choice for your diet, but it is definitely not.
According to different studies, there is no evidence that diet soda enabled people to slim down. In fact, these “no calories drinks” tend to increase people’s weight.
2. Sugar
Sugar is a suitable ingredient only when it comes to fruits but not the one that comes in plastic. Also, you should avoid brown, white, coarse, liquid, and confectioner types of sugars. In case you can’t drink your tea or coffee without sugar, try using stevia or pure honey.
3. Margarine
Traditionally, it was believed that margarine is a far better choice than butter. Nowadays, this is not the case.
Margarine is loaded with harmful trans fats or types of unsaturated fats which are considered pure evil. These trans fats not only increase your waistline but also increase the risk of heart disease and bad cholesterol.
4. Bottled Salad Dressings
Most of the salad dressings are high in sodium which can lead to hypertension, bloating, and heart disease. So, choose some options that are low in sodium or just make some homemade salad dressing out of vegetable oils.
5. Deli Meats
These types of meat are loaded with a high amount of saturated fats. Also, they are high in nitrates that can cause diabetes, heart disease, and even cancer. So, instead of ditch deli meats, consume more protein-rich food including chicken, fish, turkey, legumes, and lean beef cuts.
6. Microwave Popcorn
This does not mean that you should avoid popcorn in any case. However, microwavable popcorn is not the most suitable choice.
A single bag of these popcorns contains about 24 grams of fat and 600 calories. Also, the diacetyl, the artificial buttering flavor can lead to bronchiolitis obliterans or a condition known as popcorn lung.
7. Refined Carbohydrates
Avoid pretzels, crackers, chips, cookies, and many other things that come in a bag or box. This is due to the processed flour which is also stripped of the bran and germ.
In fact, this is where the health benefits of grains reside. Refined carbs won’t only increase your blood sugar level but you will feel exhausted and hungry.
8. Donuts and Bagels
Due to the high glycemic index, these products will increase your glucose levels and make you feel hungry. This is because donuts, in particular, are loaded with a high amount of sugar. So, instead of eating them in the morning, try oatmeal, whole wheat bread, or fresh fruit.
If you want to lose some weight without a yo-yo effect, make sure you do not consume any of these things.
