Portobello Mushroom Burgers with Spicy Cauliflower Patties




Want to make some extra delicious and super healthy burger? You do not need the refined white flour but two delicious and nutrient-rich Portobello mushrooms.

Fill the mushrooms with what you prefer and they will definitely satisfy your appetite.

Portobello Mushroom Burgers with Spicy Cauliflower Patties

Even the burger addicts will be surprised at just how delicious and healthy this burger is, even without meat.

Spicy Cauliflower Patty (for about 6-8 patties)

You need the following ingredients:

  • 1 cup cooked quinoa in 1 cup broth or water
  • ½ head cauliflower (about 6 cups florets)
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • ¼ tsp ground chili
  • 1 cup ground almonds
  • 1 tbsp. nutritional yeast
  • 2 flax or chia egg (1 tbsp flax seeds mixed with 3 tbsp. water, allowed to absorb water
  • 1 tsp Himalayan salt
  • A pinch of black pepper


  • Portobello mushrooms (for 2 persons)
  • 1 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
  • ½ tbsp. tamari
  • 1 tsp rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds


  • ¼ red shredded cabbage
  • ¼ white shredded cabbage
  • 1 grated carrot
  • 2 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp coconut sugar

Smashed Avocado

  • 1 avocado
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • A pinch of Himalayan salt
  • A pinch of black pepper

Method of preparation:

Heat the oven to 350 ̊F (180 ̊C). Add the cooked quinoa, cumin, cauliflower, chili, nutritional yeast, almond meal, Himalayan salt, chia/flax seed, pepper to the process.

Mix it well, until you get a fine combination. Line a baking tray with some parchment paper. Take ¼ of the mixture and form 6-8 patties on the tray. Keep them about the same size as your Portobello mushrooms.

Bake them for about 20 minutes until they turn golden. Combine olive oil, rice wine vinegar and tamari in a small bowl. Brush the top of Portobello mushrooms with this and sprinkle them with sesame seeds. Place them on another baking tray and bake them for about 8-10 minutes.

While they are baking, combine all of the ingredients, apple cider vinegar, cabbage, carrot, coconut sugar and salt in some medium bowl and mix them well. Take some small bowl, smash the avocado, salt, lemon juice and pepper. When the patties are baked, remove them from oven and make the burgers.
