There are many foods and drinks that bring health benefits and risks at the same time and coffee is a good example of a product like this. There are many people who find coffee to be a great product, but there are also many people who feel the side effects of this beverage, and the side effects are more intense than the benefits they feel.

But, what is important to know is that coffee comes in many different forms and this is one of the reasons why people experience different things.

Numerous studies have shown that caffeine protects people from the effects of many vicious diseases and health issues like dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, heart disease, and stroke. In addition, this compound also reduces the chances of developing oral cancer and type 2 diabetes.

We should not forget that caffeine also acts as an addictive drug and coffee has been linked to insomnia, anxiety, and fatigue. People suffering from hypertension (high blood pressure) and diabetes should limit the coffee intake and in some people, coffee leads to digestive problems. Finally, coffee is a crop that is usually high in pesticides, so it is the best idea to look for organic coffee varieties.

In many cases, coffee comes from a few different locations and this is the reason why we can sometimes witness the formation of mold. As a matter of fact, many individuals who view themselves as health-conscious have started practicing the so-called Bulletproof Diet created by Dave Asprey which is focused on the consumption of coffee. This brewed coffee often comes with grass-fed butter and specific coconut oil in it.

When it comes to coffee alone, acidity that comes as a result of drinking coffee for a long period of time is another factor that leads to health issues.

Negative Effects of Coffee

There are many negative effects of coffee on our health that come as a direct result of the acidity of this beverage. Coffee has a pH value of 5.0 and as we all know, our bodies need a value of 7.4 for perfect health. Drinks and foods that have pH values between 7.3 and 7.45 are highly recommended for people who want to take care of their health.

The truth is that people have not yet found out how to make alkaline coffee even though so-called low-acidity coffee was invented a few years ago. However, there is one practice that is followed in Middle Eastern countries and some Indians. Namely, they put some cardamom spice in their coffee to counteract acidity levels.

Just like the vast majority of spices, cardamom is extremely alkaline. The best part is that it can blend in very well with coffee when it comes to taste. This mixture will aid your body’s effort to stabilize pH levels after drinking coffee. Cardamom provides soothing and warming effects to the digestive system too and it improves the work of the heart and cleanses the lungs. This spice supports the detox process of the body, boosts oral health, and provides strong anti-inflammatory effects.

How to Avoid Negative Effects of Coffee with Cardamom

It is recommended to take somewhere between a couple of pinches and ½ a teaspoon of cardamom (powdered) in one 12-ounce cup of regular coffee. In addition to these amazing health benefits, you will also witness an improved aroma and special taste.

Cardamom is a special ingredient found in Turkish coffee. It is part of Turkish coffee for hundreds of years. This is the reason why this beverage has such a special flavor and scent. The vast majority of people who have tried Turkish coffee, have decided to continue drinking it and don’t want to try other coffees.

So, if you are interested in the preparation of this amazing drink, follow the instructions.

Ingredients:
  • One tablespoon of Arabic coffee (lightly ground)
  • One cup of filtered water
  • 1/8 teaspoon of cardamom (grounded)
  • Sugar for taste. It is better to use a sweetener with a low glycemic value like raw organic honey or stevia.
Instructions:
  • In order to brew this beverage, you need a special Turkish coffee pot called an ibrik. In case you can’t find an ibrik you can use a saucepan.
  • So, first of all, add the sugar to the water and bring the mixture to a boil. At this point remove the ibrik and add coffee mixed with cardamom.
  • Next, return the ibrik to heat and wait until the mixture starts boiling again. Wait until you see coffee foam and remove it.
  • After that, repeat the same process (Point 2).
  • Finally, pour this tasty and healthy beverage in a cup. Wait for a few minutes and serve. You should not stir the beverage.

Enjoy your healthy drink! Drink 1-2 cups a day.
