The vast majority of people use the well-known remedies as Orajel or Anbesol when they experience toothache. What only a small number of people knows is that these standard products come with benzocaine. This anesthetic can lead to allergic reactions and other unwanted effects.
The good news is that several studies have confirmed that tooth pain can be healed in a natural way – with the help of clove oil.
Clove Oil and Tooth Pain
Clove oil or clove essential oil to be more precise is a completely natural remedy that has been used in cases of tooth pain for a long time. This oil is very successful because it has the ability to numb the affected area when it is used externally. In this way, you will be able to dull the nerve endings leading to blockage of sensation in this problematic area.
A study conducted 9 years ago and shared in the popular Journal of Dentistry showed that clove essential oil acts in a similar way like benzocaine in cases of toothaches and chronic pain in this area.
The active and main ingredient of clove oil, eugenol, is the reason why this oil is so stimulating and supports blood flow and heart health. Clove is an exceptional antioxidant that has the ability to eliminate free radicals and boost the immune system.
In addition, clove is loaded with manganese which is great for metabolism. It also improves bone strength and supports enzymes.
So, take ½ teaspoon of coconut oil and two drops of clove essential oil and mix them well. After that, take a cotton ball and soak it in this solution. Next, put and hold this cotton ball in the mouth against the problematic tooth or gum. When you feel that the pain is reduced, remove the cotton ball. Remember to avoid using this remedy in bed because you might start choking.
Feel free to use whole cloves – just put a few of them close to the problematic area and wait for 5-10 minutes until they get soft. After that, chew them and use the tooth that causes pain for this purpose.
Don’t forget that there are many essential oils in the stores that are not completely pure and medicinal. Some of them may include toxic ingredients too. So, always check the label before you buy essential oils and look for pure essential oils.
