The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has recently approved a very weird weight loss device. Namely, this device eliminates food from our stomach before the food is digested.
The so-called AspireAssist system has an ability to pump out 1/3 of the food we have consumed from the stomach before this food starts affecting our weight.
It is worth mentioning that this odd procedure will be available only to people suffering from obesity that have a BMI somewhere between 35 and 55. They can use this method once they have tried all the conventional weight loss methods.
A clinical trial in the United States has shown that patients eliminated about 12% of their weight on average after following this unorthodox procedure.
This new method is actually quite simple – the patients get a thin tube installed inside their stomach and a port found on the belly.
So, whenever they have a meal, about 20 minutes after that, they can connect the device to the port and the extraction process begins. According to the manufacturer of this device, the system can eliminate up to 30% of food found inside the stomach. The FDA has confirmed that the device is safe.
