Purslane is a succulent that you have probably seen in your backyard. This is a type of weed that is commonly found in gardens and grows on its own.

This plant originates from Iran and India and gradually started to grow all over the globe. In some countries, people eliminate Purslane as an undesired plant, but in some countries, people intentionally grow purslane and consume this plant.

If we take a close look at purslane we will notice that this is a beautiful plant that comes with fleshy leaves and yellowish flowers, but what is interesting is the health benefits that this plant possesses.

The strong seeds of purslane make progress regardless of the climate.

Purslane seeds are incredibly strong and are able to remain Draxe. Needless to say, this is a GMO-free plant.

It is able to grow equally successfully in well-maintained yards and in arid areas. This strong plant provides health benefits for the entire human body, especially for the immune system.

It is good to know that purslane is also known as pigweed and it might be a good idea to give purslane to your pigs instead of GMO food.

Purslane also comes with larger quantities of Omega-3 fatty acids compared to many different fish oils.

This common weed is packed with a high quantity of vitamin A (much more than many leafy green veggies). About 100 grams of purslane has about 45% of the daily recommended amount of vitamin A. As you probably know, foods rich in vitamin A prevent the occurrence of different types of cancer and improve our eyesight.

Purslane: Powerful Antioxidant

In addition, purslane is rich in two very useful kinds of betalain alkaloid pigments. One of them is the yellowish beta-xanthine while the other one is the red betacyanins. Both of these pigments are powerful antioxidants and act as anti-mutagens too. Of course, this is not all. Purslane contains significant amounts of vitamin C and B vitamins like pyridoxine, riboflavin (B12) and folic acid, carotenoids, and certain essential minerals like magnesium, calcium, and iron.

Now that we know how useful purslane is and if we compare the price of this plant (practically free) with the price of commercial supplements, we can say that purslane should be valued much more than a simple weed in our garden. This is great everyday food that can significantly improve our overall health.
