Did you know that in the process of production of fabric softeners, manufacturers use scents that are very dangerous especially when it comes to young children?

These softeners are one of the reasons why so many people are suffering from allergies and this is no surprise when we look at the ingredients they contain. The huge number of Kids Spot in these softeners makes them a serious threat to our overall health.

There is a reason why many people avoid applying thing on their skin that they actually cannot eat. Commercial softeners or the chemicals they contain to be more precise, reach our skin through our clothes. Once they are in our skin they enter our system and cause damage in various body parts.

That’s why you should avoid chemical and use natural fabric softener when you are washing your clothes (especially your kids’ clothes).

Most softeners contain phthalates in order to get a beautiful scent and many studies have confirmed that these chemicals have negative impact on hormonal balance in animals. Therefore, by using these softeners, we are harming both the environment and ourselves.

Natural Fabric Softener

Because of all these things that we have mentioned, it is the best idea to find natural elements and create your own natural fabric softener. The best part is that the ingredients you will need in order to prepare this natural fabric softener are easy to find and they don’t cost much – water, baking soda, apple cider vinegar and essential oils.

Natural Fabric Softener Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (200 ml) of hot water.
  • 3,5 oz. (100 gr) of baking soda.
  • 3,5 cups (800 ml) of apple cider vinegar.
  • Essential oil (not mandatory) approximately 20 drops.

Instructions:

Use a big plastic container that has a capacity of about 1 gal (4 l). Pour the hot water, apple cider vinegar and baking soda in it and mix them. You should witness the chemical reaction between these ingredients (hence the big plastic container). You will see many bubbles at every part of the container.

When the reactions have stopped, pour the solution in a jar that will serve as a softener tank. Finally, add few drops of essential oil (any essential oil is good), seal the jar and shake it.

In addition, you should shake the jar every time before you use the natural fabric softener. Use about four tablespoons of this natural solution every time you use the washing machine.
