Now here’s an example of a very useful substance that is found in almost every modern household. Baking soda is a multi-purpose, all-around, toxin-free, and alkaline compound. Are you aware that our pancreas and kidneys synthesize sodium bicarbonate naturally? Of course, this “version” of sodium carbonate is a little bit different than the one that we can buy in local stores. The reason why our pancreas and kidneys produce it is simple – the body needs to manage the acidity of the blood. According to many studies, acidic blood is one of the main reasons for the occurrence of inflammation and illnesses. So, bicarbonate is created in the body to deal with higher amounts of acids that are created by the respiratory and digestive systems. The aging process is something that we can’t stop and it is exactly this process that makes our organs create less bicarbonate which may be the cause of the occurrence of many different health issues (some of them can be very serious like cancer for example). Dr. Kalani Raphael who works at the University of Utah situated in Salt Lake City led a scientific study that has confirmed that the amount of bicarbonate found in your blood can determine your life expectancy. The experts have analyzed the results from more than 2000 individuals aged between 70 and 79 over 15 years. When this scientific study came to an end, about 50% were dead due to natural causes. It turned out that people with normal or high levels of bicarbonate belonged to a group that had almost the same chances of fatality. However, people who had low bicarbonate levels had about 25% more chances of early death compared to the other two groups. According to Dr. Raphael Kalani, his team discovered something really interesting. Older people who can be considered healthy and have low sodium bicarbonate levels are at greater risk of passing away. Dr. Kanali also pointed out that by including pH assessment into this equation the results remained unchanged, which is good to know because pH is not assessed regularly. Finally, according to Dr. Kalani, low levels of bicarbonate were linked to health conditions associated with aging like kidney disease, osteoporosis, lowered strength, muscle mass, etc. The scientists came to a theory that low levels of bicarbonate can be a sign of certain hidden health issues that lead to fatalities. By taking blood tests to determine the levels of bicarbonate you may be able to find out whether your chances of premature death are high or low. Thanks to these tests you can also determine the presence of kidney diseases, lung illnesses, and metabolic issues.

How To Drink Baking Soda?

If you include more of the foods that create bicarbonate in your body in your diet, like veggies and fruits, you will be able to increase the levels of bicarbonate. Experts advise people to drink baking soda, but only when this process is administered by a physician or naturopath.
