A concerned father who almost witnessed the death of his young daughter is now sharing his experience with the public. He urges other parents via social media platforms to pay special attention to washing hands thoroughly before touching their babies and what happens in case you don’t follow this advice.
The father is active on the popular Imgur social network where he shared his story which involves his young daughter.
One month after his wife delivered a healthy baby, the baby had to be transported to the hospital because she was showing signs of viral meningitis.
The good news is that the doctors managed to stop the problem and the baby was fine in a couple of days. But, she is now suffering from RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus). When it comes to older kids and adult, this specific virus leads to symptoms similar to the ones found in flu.
However, the situation is problematic when the virus attacks kids with heart and lung problems and prematurely born kids in babyhood. This is the period when they can experience intense form of this disease due to the undeveloped lungs.
The concerned father wrote a post in which he says that they couldn’t treat the baby in their home and had to visit the local hospital. The pediatric team that checked the baby said that their daughter was clinically dead and they had to use a breathing machine to revive her. The doctors said that she has RSV, a very intense form of flu, pneumonia, bronchitis.
Respiratory Syncytial Virus is spread by physical contact including kiss and touch and contact with items that are contaminated – in this case – bottles, dummies, toys etc.
The lucky dad says that he is happy that their daughter is recovering very fast and that RSV symptoms are almost gone. He also pointed out that he never heard about this disease before and urged parents to wash their hands and faces regularly and thoroughly before touching their kids.
