When experiencing congestion, some natural home remedies can effectively alleviate this condition, especially when caused by a common cold. The following remedies can help you heal even the most irritating symptoms:

Spicy Cider Decongestant and Expectorant

First, pour the apple cider vinegar and lemon juice into a pot in order to simmer. Add the cayenne, honey, and ginger. You can define the amounts to fit your personal taste. Pour the mixture into a jar and store it in a cool and dark place. Shake the mixture well, before use, and drink 1-2 tablespoons every day. Also, you can warm the mixture before drinking.

Three-Ingredient Cough Syrup

  • 3/4 cup of raw unfiltered honey
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2-4 tbsp. lemon juice

Mix all of the ingredients and store the mixture in the fridge for up to 6 weeks. Drink half a teaspoon of it any time you experience congestion.

Herbal Cough Syrup

  • 3 cups of filtered water
  • 1/4 cup licorice root
  • 1/4 cup wild cherry bark
  • 1/4 cup mullein leaf
  • 1 tbsp. or 1 stick of cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp ginger root
  • 1 cut raw unfiltered honey
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice

Add all of the ingredients with water in a saucepan. Bring it to a boil and then let it simmer for 20 minutes. Remove the saucepan from heat and strain the liquid from herbs.

You can add some lemon juice or honey to this herbal liquid. Store it in the fridge for 6 weeks. When needed, drink 1/2- 1tbsp of it every half hour.

Radish Syrup

Cut the onion and radishes into small pieces and then blend them well until you get a smooth paste. Add lemon juice and honey and blend it once more. Pour it into a jar and store it for up to 1 week.

When needed, drink 1-2 tbsp. twice a day. In this way, you will remove mucus within 24 hours.

Essential Oil Vapor Rub

  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup Shea butter
  • 10 drops lemon essential oil
  • 5 drops tea tree essential oil
  • 20 drops peppermint essential oil
  • 25 drops eucalyptus essential oil

Whip coconut oil and Shea butter for half a minute in order to make a home remedy vapor rub. Add the essential oils and keep on whipping until the combination is well-mixed. Store it in a glass jar with a tight lid.
