As we all know, this is a situation that is unavoidable for all women. They have to go through these periods every month. Unfortunately, most of them feel bloated, sick and witness changes in their mood. But, the worst part is when the periods are accompanied by sharp pain.

Of course, women accept this condition because they know that this period of discomfort is completely natural. This is What Your Period is Saying About Your Health

However, only a small number of women know that the appearance of their period can actually tell them a lot about their health. Its appearance can reveal certain health issues. Yet, many women are not in the mood to discuss their periods with other people, so these health issues usually pass unnoticed.

The good news is that experts were able to analyze the connection between the appearance of the period and certain health issues.

Generally speaking, the flow/intensity and color of the period can be separated in three groups:

  • Strawberry jam
  • Frozen blueberries (mashed)
  • Cranberry juice.

Dr. Alisa Vitti, an alternative medicine expert and naturopath, claims that the consistency of periods that represents the same consistency as mashed frozen blueberries indicates abnormal levels of estrogen which leads to more difficult periods due to the fact that the uterus is much thicker than normal.

On the other hand, color similar to strawberry jam suggests very low estrogen levels. This period is usually late or irregular because the estrogen acts as a thin lining. In many cases, reduced flow is associated with the use of birth control pills.

Finally, the color that looks close to cranberry juice is ideal. The period begins and ends in a timely manner and it is not very difficult and heavy. In most cases women don’t feel any pain.

So-called spotting is when women bleed just a little bit while the period lasts. This is a clear indicator that something is not right. This is the time when you need to talk to your gynecologist.

Problems related to periods can come as a result of:

Stress

Stress leads to hormonal imbalance which means that the progesterone and estrogen levels are not harmonized and in many cases they are triggered by ill ovaries, thyroid gland and the use of birth control pills.

Infection/Cancer

We must say that these cases are very rare, but the fact is that Cancer, uterine cancer and cervix cancer can lead to problems like this.

Pain

On the other hand, menstrual cramps that lead to pain in this area appear as a result of increased prostaglandin levels. Prostaglandin is a hormone that remains active in this period and it contributes to the inflammation and pain women feel during their periods.

This is actually quite natural. Menstrual cramps appear when the lining is damaged and can’t move freely. There are many women around the world who are dealing with menstrual cramps and intense pain. The best solution in situations like this is to turn to Mother Nature and use some of the many natural remedies.
