‘Organic’ Food From China Found To Be Highly Contaminated

In recent years the sales of organic food have skyrocketed into a multi-billion dollar industry. But you know what they say, where there is money to be made, it’s likely that corruption will follow.

Nowadays, we all know the benefits of consuming organic versus the different risk of consuming non-organic products and factory farmed animals. However, do we understand whether we are buying fake organic products or real organic products?

What is the possibility that the fake ones are coming into our stores from China? The truth is that there is increased demand, so many grocery chains and food suppliers have looked overseas in order to stock their shelves.

Also, they have started sourcing from the EU. And you should know that in the EU the organic guidelines aren’t as stringent as in America. And the products which usually come are from China.

For years now the world has known about the safety standards and food production of China, along with the many consumer products which are notoriously low and dangerous.

As a matter of fact, you should know that the U.S. Consumer Product Safety has a searchable database which lists all the products and their recalls.

The things are that a big source of contamination of the products from China is through the soil and water. They are often too toxic, and they carry big health risks.

Many parts of Hunan Province in China are known to have a problem with contamination of soul with different toxic metals such as lead and cadmium. The high levels of these metals have been reposted for rice grown in the province.

Often, water sources are as toxic because of the many issues including but not restricted to lack of governmental oversight and over-development.

In fact, much of the global-scale farming in China is located along Yellow and Yangtze Rivers. And both rivers are extremely polluted. What is the reason for pollution?

It’s because many of the Chinese factories are working along these rivers, and they are dumping their toxic waste into the water used to water the growing fields.

There was one case where a chemical fertilizer plant dumped an excessive amount of ammonia into Fu river which is a tributary of the Yangtze River. The result?

There were 110 tons of dead fish which has to be removed from the river. But this polluted, dangerous river continued to be used for both agricultural and industrial purposes.

Moreover, other heavy metals and chemicals have been discovered in very unsafe and high amounts in the same rivers, and food made with the same water.

And to add insult to injury, the government cannot track and test all the food that is being imported. Therefore, people are often exposed to an unknown quantity of toxins, pollutants, and pesticides.

It is said that even perchlorate which is a precursor to rocket fuel has been discovered in the sewage in China as well as its milk, rice, and bottled drinking water.

It is toxic; it can lead to improper regulation of the metabolism, developmental issues in infants and children and issues with the thyroid.

Furthermore, it turns out that some of the so-called organic products from China are more likely to be polluted in comparison to others.

Fruits such as bananas, apples, Lychees, peaches, and strawberries were discovered to be the most contaminated fruits that come from China. Foods to never consume are apple juice, garlic rank, cod, processed mushrooms, and tilapia.

The inevitable question comes: “How can we protect ourselves?” Well, the only way to be certain that your food is free from additives and chemicals is to grow it yourself.

You should know that vegetable gardens can fit even in the smallest spaces. You can have a new hobby which will provide you and your closest ones safe, healthy foods.
