Quality oral health can have a significant impact on the entire body. Without genuine dental hygiene, the bacteria in your mouth drops below a healthy level, and could actually trigger infections or gum disease.

Tartar build-up on the teeth from food/bacteria, make brushing your teeth properly harder, thus increasing the risks of infections and cavities.

Even though doctors recommend a professional oral cleaning every 6 months, there are several natural remedies you can make at home to prevent tartar buildup.

1. Apple Cider Vinegar

Dip your toothbrush in cider vinegar and brush your teeth as usual, but make sure you rinse your mouth well at the end. Tend to do this once or twice a week because the cider vinegar can harm your teeth if is either used too often or left on for too long.

2. Baking Soda

To prevent tartar buildup in the mouth, use baking soda with a pinch of salt instead of toothpaste. Also, you can make a mouthwash using this recipe:

  • 1 cup of water;
  • 1 tbsp of Aloe Vera gel;
  • 4 tbsp of vegetable glycerin;
  • 10 drops of lemon oil.

Mix the ingredients well and use them once or twice a day.

3. Fruit Juice

Rub red fruits (tomatoes or strawberries) on your teeth and let their juice sit on the teeth for 5 minutes to soothe the build-up. For a brighter smile, use baking soda and warm water to rinse your mouth.

Several other power-like fruits are lemons, berries, oranges, and bell peppers. In addition to these natural remedies, a few changes in your daily routine could be of use too.

Keeping your pearly whites clean includes brushing and flossing your teeth frequently, increasing the intake of spicy foods in your diet (to stimulate saliva production for the natural cleaning process), and ditching tobacco.
