From now on, you won’t drink lemonade only as a refreshing drink in summer. If you add just two ingredients, you’ll get a powerful drink that’ll help you soothe your sore throat, and treat other symptoms of a cold.

These ingredients are well-known in the field of Alternative medicine, due to the incredible health benefits they provide. They are ginger and raw honey – the ingredients that will give lemonade a refreshing twist!

Here’s how to prepare it:

Ginger Honey Lemonade Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice;
  • ¼ cup of peeled ginger slices;
  • Half a cup of raw honey;
  • A sprig of fresh mint;
  • 2 cups of purified water;
  • 4 cups of ice cubes (optional).

Preparation:

Chop the fresh sprig of mint, and put it in a large pitcher together with the lemon juice, honey, and ginger. Press the mint and ginger to release flavor, while constantly stirring. Add the water and once again mix well to let the honey dissolve.

Finally, add the ice if you like a more refreshing drink. Pour the drink into glasses and decorate with a spring of mint and a straw. The given amounts of the ingredients are enough for six 10 oz glasses.

Why It Works

Being a natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agent, ginger is ideal for treating sore throat. It not only reduces inflammation that causes pain in the throat, but it successfully eliminates the germs that have caused the throat irritation and pain in the first place.

Moreover, the high vitamin C content and the thick coating of raw honey make a perfect combination for treating symptoms of cold and soothing a sore throat. Mint also provides soothing properties that make it an ideal anesthetic or anti-irritant.

Note: Don’t give this remedy to kids under the age of 3. For treating seasonal allergies in kids and adults, you can use just raw honey.
