Fake Foods You Should Never Eat Again

There are some foods that are not what they seem to be, or what their manufacturers claim to be. The best way to get what you pay for when eating at a restaurant, or at your place, is to consume fresh, whole foods.

But, not everyone chooses real foods over convenience, and they often end up eating “fake” foods.

The following foods are just some of them, so think twice before including them in your daily menu.

1. Processed Cheese

Cheez Whiz dips and similar products are unfortunately NOT made from organic aged cheddar cheese. Even more shocking is that this “cheese” product doesn’t even contain the main ingredient, which is cheese. What you get is a third of your daily limit for fat and sodium in just 2 tablespoons.

2. Crab Sticks or Meat

The crab pieces in your sushi are not real meat from crabs. If you love sushi you might be disappointed as what you get is imitation crab known as kamaboko, or a type of processed seafood produced from surimi – a pulverized paste made from white fish’s flesh. The crab sticks on the other hand do contain some actual fish, but also lots of preservatives and additives which are surely not good for your health.

3. Tang Fruit Juices

If you’re a fan of these juices, you should know they are packed with sugar and just a tiny amount (2%) of juice from real fruits. Although they might taste like the actual source, they contain lots of artificial colors in order to give that taste. Another thing worth mentioning is to be careful when choosing pomegranate juices since the Food Fraud Database of the US Pharmacopeial Convention explains they are produced from the skins and juice of grapes.

4. White Bread

To get the color of white bread, manufacturers have to remove the nutrients and bleach the flour. Even though the bread does contain some vitamins, they are all synthetic, hence the name fortified bread. Keep in mind that all white bread and other products which contain refined flours like cereals, crackers, and baked goods, are toxic to our bodies. That’s why you should try to eliminate them from your diet as soon as possible.

The sad truth is that our diet has become one of the biggest scams in the global food market in the past 10 years. There are numerous products that contain unnatural preservatives, artificial sweeteners, and other additives which can cause various health problems. So, the last thing you should do is avoid the foods from this list and choose whole, organic foods.
