The lemons are used in China and India 2500 years ago as food, drink or as a cleaning agent. However, did you know that the lemons could improve your health in many different ways? Their medicinal properties are known since ancient times. This is why lemons are on the list of natural remedies.

Healing Powers of the Lemons

1. Improve skin hyper-pigmentation. The citric acid has naturally lightening components.  Therefore, it is used for skin lightening. You can make the lightening mask as follows:
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice.
  • 1 teaspoon of natural yogurt.
  • 1 teaspoon honey.
You should put a mask every day for 20 minutes. Then rinse with lukewarm water. Although the results come later, they are reliable. Note: In this case, avoid exposure to sun, because the skin is too sensitive.

2. Treat acne and acne scars. The lemons have antibacterial properties due to the low pH level. They effectively kill bacteria that cause acne and treat acne scars. Apply undiluted lemon juice to troubled parts of the skin (acne), three times a day. Because lemon juice dries the skin, after the treatment apply some natural crème.

3. Relieve cold symptoms and sore throat. The lemons are rich in Vitamin C. Therefore, they improve the immune system and accelerate recovery from various infections. If you have any of the symptoms of colds, flu and sore throat, drink tea with lemon and honey, 3-4 times a day. 4. Treat dandruff. If you have dandruff hair, you need two ingredients to make a great mask:
  • ½ cup (100 ml) lemon.
  • ½ cup (100 ml) yogurt.
You can add a few drops of almond oil or a teaspoon of honey to prevent hair dryness. Wash your hair, and then apply the mixture on the scalp. Leave it to stand for 10-15 minutes. Then rinse. You can apply this mask 2-3 times a week. 5. Ease constipation and improves digestion. Warm lemon water in the morning will improve the digestion throughout the day. It helps the colon in the process of disposal of waste and toxic substances from the body and prevents constipation. 6. Relieve insect bites. The citric acid helps in the treatment of the insect stings, bites and prevents itching. Apply lemon juice on the bitten place and let it stand until itching passes. It will help you heal that place quickly and avoid possible infections. 7. Whiten teeth. In a cup, squeeze ¼ lemon and add 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar. Moisten the toothbrush in the mixture and brush your teeth well. Then rinse your mouth. This mixture will remove any traces of red wine, coffee or nicotine. Note: This mix may damage the teeth enamel. Therefore, it is not recommended for more than 1-2 weeks. 8. Lemons and diabetes. Adding lemon acid in your diet will help you control the blood sugar level. Lemon acid added to any food reduces its glycemic index, because it slows the digestion and prevents rising of the blood sugar level. In addition, lemon acid has beneficial properties for diabetics, due to the high concentration of soluble fiber and Vitamin C. 9. Treat kidney stones. People who suffer from kidney stones must drink plenty of water to reduce the creation of new calcium oxalate stone formation. They also have to drink lots of water to make soluble calcium oxalate and prevent the formation of crystals. Squeeze ½ of lemon in a cup of water and drink it 2 times a day. It will reduce the formation of new stones. 10. Strengthen and whiten fingernails. Remove the nail polish and soak them in lemon acid. Let them soaked for about 15 minutes. Wash your hands and put some natural crème to prevent their dehydration. REMEMBER! When choosing, always select mature and yellow lemons. Those lemons are rich in antioxidants.
